I'm lonely!

Karl's out of town with work for the next week so I'm all alone (except that I'm not really alone)! Church went surprisingly well though, I was able to feed Violet right before we left so I didn't have to leave during sacrament meeting.  I did however have to feed her during primary, but all I missed was head, shoulders, knees, and toes which is fine a cappella.  Violet doesn't really like sitting in her car-seat when we're not actually driving, so I bought this really cute moses basket at a thrift store for only $10 (they were asking for $20 but I had Karl ask for 10 and they went for it) and used it next to the piano so she could see me.  It worked out pretty well, she would start to fuss if I didn't look at her for about thirty  seconds to a minute, but would stop every time I looked at her and smiled, so I did!  She eventually just fell asleep.  She's such a good baby.  Later, I was playing with her and she grabbed onto my finger and put it in her mouth for the first time.  I thought this was really smart because she just discovered her own hands orally last week.  The boys were really well behaved during church as well.  I think they're finally getting the concept of a bribe, something we've just started doing.  I told them that if they were good I'd make them cookies after dinner, and the were, so I did.  Anyway,  that's all for today, I've sort of decided that because it's easier to type than write that this is going to be kind of a journal for me.  I've always struggled with journal writing, but this is pretty easy.

Family Pictures

So last night we went to the park to take some family pictures.  Oh my goodness, is it really that difficult to be happy for a half an hour and just look at the camera and smile?!!  Apparently it is.  I shot almost 100 pictures and only got about five good ones.  Those boys wouldn't hold a pose or a smile to save their lives!  When one would be cute and smile and look at the camera, the other two would be looking away, or asking a question ("are we done yet," and "can we play now" being the most popular), or even crying... SAM.  After all that, I don't even know if we're going to use what I got for the reason I was taking the pictures in the first place.  The light wasn't really good anyway.  Try, try, again...

I hate vaccinations!

So, Violet got her first shots on Tuesday.  She did wonderfully, she barely cried with the first one, but the second one must have stung because she got all red in the face and baby screamed, but she only cried for about fifteen to twenty seconds and then calmed down.  It was later that she was really affected, but as long as I held her, which I did, she was just fine.  I pretty much just put her down for practically the first time in three days this morning.  She's in the swing.  I love her so much, she's such an angel.  Oh, and the doctor confirmed that she really is a perfect baby.  She's 10lbs 10oz and 22 inches long which puts her in the 50th percentile which means she's exactly as big as she's supposed to be, not too big, not too small, just perfect.  And she's doing just as well as far as holding her head up and smiling and cooing goes.
Joe and Ben and Sam are all doing pretty well.  They've really been testing their boundaries though, Sam especially. They sure do love their sister though.  But the number one thing Joe and Ben love is Super Mario Brothers.  They have even gone as far as renaming themselves Mario (Joe) and Luigi (Ben), and they call Sam Toadstool.  Ben even insisted to his new primary teacher that his name is not Ben, it's Luigi!  Oh, and during family prayer last week one of the twins said,"please bless Mommy and Daddy, and Joe, and Ben, and Violet, and J (our exchange student) and Toadstool." They didn't even skip a beat, and nobody started laughing or anything, which was even more surprising to me.  They call their cousin Alexis Princess Peach and every day they want to go to Peach's house because "duty calls" and they need to go and save her.
On the naughty side, this morning I went to watch the new Lost that recorded on our DVR, and somebody (namely Joe) had accidently erased ALL of my recorded shows, about fifty hours of programs I'd been saving or hadn't had time to watch yet!  They only thing left was Finding Nemo.  The only reason this really sucks to me is that Karl is going out of town for an entire week, will be home next weekend, and then gone again for five more days, so I was planning on filling my hard to sleep nights with TV.  Oh well.

My first Blog

I really don't know why I started this blog, I feel like I'm being narcissistic writing about myself and my family.  Like I'm presuming that the world wants to hear about us or something. So if that's what I'm doing I might as well do it full swing, right?  So here it goes:
I have the most beautiful family, and the most beautiful daughter in the whole world!  Violet is the prettiest baby ever to have been born and has the personality and disp
osition to match!  There, I said it, it's what's on my mind all the time and I finally got it out there!  I'm obsessed with her, we spend every moment of every day in each others presence, which is normal at this age I guess, but I am enjoying every minute of it.  She has to go get her first shots tomorrow and I'm dreading it.  She hardly ever cries, only when there's something wrong and there's rarely anything wrong!  She was 11 weeks old yesterday.  Joe, Ben and Sam absolutely adore her, and she loves them too!  She always lights up with a smile when they talk to her.  Sam lays down next to her and sings her songs, and Joe and Ben pretend like she's a princess that needs rescuing.  I think their age difference is just about perfect.  They're old enough to understand that she needs a lot of attention, and they're willing to let her have it.   They play together so well now and have such huge imaginations.  They're really very sweet.  Anyway, I don't really know what to write about except the kids, but nothing's really coming to mind as of this minute so I guess that's it for now!  We're going to take new family portraits soon so I'll post that as soon as we get them.
